Terminal Quickies: The New Girl

Hello all,

That’s right I’m still alive, even if I’ve been severely neglecting this blog outside of responding to comments. I currently view this blog as the place to post about work of mine that is in a complete/released state. Thus since v0.10 of Terminal Desires is STILL in development (Current ETA Mid June 2023) & none of the surrounding Terminal projects have been completed, I haven’t felt the need to post here in the meantime.

I find it far easier to tweet occasionally than to write up full blog posts, so follow me on Twitter here if you want to stay more in the loop.

Of-course, the best way to stay in the loop is to become a supporter on SubscribeStar OR Patreon. The $1 tier on either platform gets you access to all of the development blogs & the latest game builds upon release. And also access to the supporter discord server, another place more active than this blog.

All that being said, something HAS finally been completed. And that’s the reason for this random post all of the sudden. I previously introduced the concept of “Terminal Quickies” being canon short stories written by me & accompanied by commissioned 2D art from various artists. With the core goal being to provide additional lore/backstory insights that take place prior to the game’s story. Since then, that concept has evolved from illustrated short stories into full comics. One of which is being released publicly today.

Terminal Quickies: The New Girl is drawn by artist Lasga Claven & stars Lara Wells & Miguel Cortés in events that took place 1 week prior to the initial Ashton Lake outbreak(16 days before Tiffany & Terry arrive in town at the start of Terminal Desires).

We never got to see Lara & Miguel's relationship in the game, so I figured a Terminal Quickies comic would be the best way to provide that bit of missing lore. So The New Girl is the story of how Lara came into Miguel's service, prior to the events of the Terminal Desires game.

If you wish to easily download the full comic for yourself you can find the archive at THIS MEGA LINK. Or keep reading here:

For additional game context, this story depicts Lara's first night performing undercover at the Ashton Lake Casino's club on Floor 1 (Where Tiffany can fight the gauntlet of zombies & encounter Andre on The game’s 2nd Day). The comic closes with them in Miguel's master bedroom on Floor 5 of the Casino (The same location where Tiffany & Lara confront Romeo on the game’s 3rd Day).

Also included here are 2 reference renders I did of the characters standing next to each other:

And yes, "A Case of Conception" (The other Lara TQ story) is still in the works. Though the artist popsiclebunny & I in the process of transitioning that story into a comic for part 5 onward, after I've finished writing the already illustrated parts 3 & 4 of the short story component.

Terminal Quickies comics (and any other canon bonus content) will always be released publicly after they’ve been completed, as I have done here. But if you wish to get early access to individual pages as they release, consider supporting me at the $3 tier or higher on either SubscribeStar OR Patreon. None of this is possible without my extremely patient supporters.

Until next time, which will hopefully be a lot sooner... I do have plans for this blog, I’m just chronically slow & busy with the game. :’)

    1. The comics currently in production, and this one, have all been on schedule. The issues are with when I was doing short stories rather than comics, and so a lot more was needed from me time/writing wise. Which is part of the reason we swapped to comics. Only time it's been an issue with the artist is when the original artist for the Jailbreak Story abandoned the project. That was before it was rebooted into the currently in production comic version.

    1. What do you mean by "it"? Are you referring to the original Jailbreak artwork done the other artist? https://jimjim-renders.blogspot.com/2021/10/terminal-quickies-jailbreak-part-1.html

  3. Will you ever consider continuing "OIL"? Perhaps as a comic? It looked like things were just getting started there.

    1. Camille is continuing it as a novel only. I would do something with it if I had the time, but I unfortunately don't.

    7. I've since realized the image in question was at the end of issue 1 and it just slipped my mind.
